Attendant Tone Signaling lets the attendant send tones over the circuit once a call has been established. The attendant console does not normally transmit tones; however, some applications (such as answering machines) require this type of functionality.
Alert tones (for example, the audible ring for an incoming call) are not presented on the 5540 IP Console when the Tones On feature is invoked. (In this case, a visual alert appears in the Call Waiting Count display.)
This feature does not require programming.
All consoles
To generate tones:
Select Tones.
The Tones indicator in the Console Status are appears with a check beside it when tone signaling is turned on.
Dial the code.
To turn off tone signaling:
Select Release or the + key on the numeric keypad (MiVoice Business Console).
The console is disconnected from the call. Tone
signaling stops automatically.

Select Tones again.
To use tone signalling on a trunk call:
Press Tones On.
Use the DTMF dial pad to insert the required digits.
Press Tones Off.
Press Release or the + key on the numeric keypad (MiVoice Business Console).
